As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog, I’ve begun creating my audiobook of my first novel Zombie Turkeys. In that blog post, I covered Steps One through Three. Today, I’ll cover Steps Four through Six of the 6 Steps Creating Your Audiobook.
Be sure to read to the end to get your free book excerpt!
Step 4 of 6 Steps Creating Your Audiobook
I’m using ACX’s training and publishing tools. In this lesson, they cover advanced recording techniques.

Step 5 of 6 Steps Creating Your Audiobook
The next lesson gives details about mastering your audiobook.
I’m listening to these videos as I create this blog post. Man, I didn’t know there was so much to know about audio recording! I guess what I don’t know, I don’t know that I don’t know it!
Here’s the next video from ACX:
Step 6 of 6 Steps Creating Your Audiobook – Encoding
The sixth and final lesson on audiobook recording doesn’t have a video. It gives you details on how to convert your files to the proper mp3 format. This process is called ‘encoding’.
I’ve gotten all this material from ACX. From their About page:
ACX is a marketplace where authors, literary agents, publishers, and other Rights Holders can connect with narrators, engineers, recording studios, and other Producers capable of producing a finished audiobook. The result: More audiobooks will be made.
ACX puts you in the driver’s seat. If you’re a Rights Holder, you choose how you produce your audiobook—whether on your own or by engaging a Producer on ACX—and you choose among two royalty models.
If you’re a Producer, ACX allows you to post a profile and be seen. Plus, you can be proactive and audition on ACX for posted titles.
If you already created an audiobook and just want to sell it, we can help you.
